ExitYear does not sell, monetize, or track your personal financial data. By default, all calculations, assumptions, and projections run 100% locally in your browser using client-side JavaScript. There are no user accounts, no advertising trackers, and no general backend databases. Financial data only leaves your device if you voluntarily choose to generate a shareable short link.

Your financial assumptions and account balances are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage) on your current device.

• Data persists between sessions on your current browser for convenience.
• Clearing your browser cache or site data removes your stored plan completely.
• You can export your complete financial plan as a local JSON file at any time to back it up or transfer it between devices.
• No server receives your plan data when you save, calculate, or perform offline JSON exports.

If you voluntarily choose to generate an abbreviated share link via the ExitYear Share dialog, your scenario inputs are compressed into a base64 payload and transmitted to our dedicated URL-shortening server (links.exityear.com) to generate a compact redirect URL.

• Compressed Scenario Storage: To allow recipients to load and inspect your shared plan, the compressed scenario parameters are stored on our dedicated link server.
• Public Visibility: Anyone who possesses your generated share link can unpack and view the financial inputs and assumptions in that scenario. Never include personally identifiable information (PII) such as legal names, account numbers, or employer details in scenario notes.
• Technical Access Logging: When generating or clicking a short link, standard HTTP access logs (including IP address, browser user agent, and timestamp) are processed temporarily by links.exityear.com for routing, security, and abuse mitigation.
• Zero-Transmission Alternative: If you prefer zero data transmission, use the "Full Plan (Exact)" URL option (which encodes state directly in the browser fragment without server storage) or download an offline JSON backup.

ExitYear is intentionally built without invasive tracking scripts or marketing pixels.

• No advertising tracking scripts or behavioral recording tools are loaded.
• Outbound links to partner tools may contain affiliate referral tags so partner networks can attribute referrers.
• These outbound links open directly in new tabs with standard security headers (rel="noopener sponsored noreferrer").
